President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their honor.
White House Invitation
The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments
Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The incident prompted the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and halt issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of the Airman
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit his relatives.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” the governor told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
