A senior Russian army officer has been declared dead following an explosion in Moscow, according to reports from authorities.
The attack occurred on Monday morning when an IED planted beneath a vehicle was set off, causing the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.
Sarvarov served as the head of the armed forces' unit responsible for operational readiness.
Authorities mentioned that one possible explanation suggests the possible involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. So far, Ukraine has remained silent.
