Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase like this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
